Top Scorers Ranking: Mbappé in a League of His Own

Leading the Ligue 1 goal-scoring charts at the halfway point of the season with 18 goals in 16 matches, Kylian Mbappé is simply dominating the competition.

It's incredible to think that Mbappé had a disrupted and truncated summer preparation due to his contractual situation. Despite the strange summer, with PSG pushing him to leave if he didn't extend his contract, before ultimately reaching an agreement, Kylian Mbappé has not wasted any time in the first half of the season. After being sidelined for the opening match against Lorient in this 2023-2024 season, Mbappé made his debut in the second match against Toulouse, proving right away just how indispensable he still is. Coming off the bench for the last 40 minutes, he helped his team secure a draw (1-1). On Wednesday night, on his 25th birthday, he scored a brace against Metz (3-1), bringing his tally to 18 goals in 16 appearances. And the competition is far behind the five-time Ligue 1 top scorer.

Ben Yedder ten goals behind

The closest contender to Mbappé is Monaco's Wissam Ben Yedder, who has ten goals less, having scored a brace against Toulouse on Wednesday to bring his total to eight goals. In third place, we find two players tied with seven goals. Akor Adams, the Nigerian forward who joined Montpellier from Norway in the summer but hasn't scored in the past two months after a strong start to the season, and Alexandre Lacazette, who has scored four goals, including a hat-trick, in the last three matchdays. Following them are Nantes' Mostafa Mohamed and Nice's Terem Moffi with six goals each, and then a long list of players with five goals, including Lille's Jonathan David, who has been disappointing after hoping for a move in the offseason, and Marseille's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is gaining momentum after a challenging start with the Phocéens. But closing the gap on Mbappé seems like a daunting task for them all.
