Espanyol's unwavering optimism was on display as the club's sporting director, Fran Garagarza, and CEO Mao Ye expressed their confidence in the team's ability to overcome recent setbacks and secure promotion to La Liga. Despite acknowledging the negative trend of just three points out of twelve in December, both leaders remained cautious yet hopeful during a Christmas toast at the prestigious Stage Front Stadium.

During their public address on Wednesday, Espanyol's sporting director, Fran Garagarza, and CEO Mao Ye conveyed their firm belief in the team's resilience and determination to overcome the current rough patch and earn promotion to La Liga. Garagarza openly acknowledged the underwhelming December performance yet maintained cautious optimism during the festive gathering at the Stage Front Stadium, assuring, "We may not be where we desire to be at the moment, but we will undoubtedly achieve our goal." Demonstrating unwavering faith in the team, Garagarza emphasized his confidence that they would rise to the occasion when faced with the upcoming "final exams."

Furthermore, the head of the sporting department emphasized the crucial significance of unity among all the entities involved in Espanyol's journey towards La Liga. Garagarza stated, "I have always stressed the fundamental nature of unity," employing his familiar metaphor of "waves" and the necessity for all members to "row together" to attain a successful outcome.

CEO Mao Ye openly acknowledged the intricacies and challenges faced by the club throughout 2023, a year he aptly described as "difficult for everyone." However, in the face of adversity, the club's leader underlined the importance of unwavering dedication and hard work in order to attain something extraordinary. He remained confident in the team's abilities, eagerly anticipating the next celebratory occasion at the renowned Periquito Stadium.

As the year draws to a close, Espanyol currently resides in fourth place in the standings with 34 points, with only one match remaining. The disappointing results led to the dismissal of coach Luis García; however, despite the coaching change to Ramis, the sentiment within the Catalan team remains unchanged: an unwavering determination to achieve their goals.
